Day 6: A video of something that makes me laugh
I decided take a sharp left in right field to share my favorite video instead of a picture, that always brings a smile to my face. I realize I have a twisted sense of humor, but it's hilarious (to me) to see Zach Braff's response to his outrageously fabricated death reported from last year. Please, view at your own risk. LOL
Original report can be found below:
Last year, on October 12, 2009, Zach Braff's alleged death created a social media frenzy. Zach Braff’s response to this ridicules claim spun into a social media's viral dream.

Day 5: Your sibling
My brother has a brilliant combination of talent and heart.
As a kid, my brother naturally just stood out. He was never quite, always into something and enjoying himself tremendously. As he got older, he took on a lot more responsibility for the ones around him. And he seem to just naturally lead when he most rather follow. Or better yet, just do his own thing.
And this picture represents, at least to me, the kind of person my brother has become. He's found a way to hone in on his natural abilities to allow others to flourish as well. Though, as much as we love his humor, I believe there is more talent behind this heart of a man :)

Day 4: Your parents
Photo: © Elizabethtown 2005 |
Well, that’s the best way I know how to explain how I see my mom and dad. My mom is a very compassionate person who often puts others before herself. She seemed to have that innate sense to be where she was needed the most and willing to help even if it just meant to lend an ear. And as embarrassing as it was to me as a child, she had no qualms in getting a person's attention whom she may have not seen in years with a smile and a wave from what seemed like across the room.
And though my dad was a very approachable person and enjoyed to give as well, I’ll always remember him best by the love and support he showed toward both my brother and I. Growing up, I remember during my sophomore year in high school when I was asked to become a starter for the JV team. Morale was low due to the fact that a few of my teammates had been suspended from playing because of their poor grades. So, one day during an early Saturday morning basketball practice, my much older father ended up running the drills with me and the team. And that's the kind of attitude he had. He wouldn't let me believe I couldn't do something or fear anything. He would always ask me, "what's the worst thing that can happen?"

Day 2: Meaning behind your blog name
Blog Title: Ranking Ideas
Rankin is my last name and when I thought about the purpose of my blog, I knew what I would eventually post/publish/promote, would be based on the thoughts and ideas that interest me.
As a marketer, we find that the most influential people are the one’s that bring personality to a product, brand and/or service. People respond to that sense of personal identity to the product, brand and/or service. I think Dale Carnegie said it best, “when dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but creatures of emotion.” And, “You can close more business in two months by becoming interested in other people than you can in two years by trying to get people interested in you.”
Even though the connections we have with people aren’t 100% identical with our own thoughts and ideals, we usually understand what’s important to us individually.
People want to be heard and respected, so why not give them that? And give them the knowledge and/or tools to be their best.

Day 1: Introduction w/recent picture & 15 interesting facts
Introduction:
Hello friends! My name is Heather and I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m a (transplant) Georgia peach. Originally, from Columbus, Ohio and to some of you I'm known as a Buckeye. I truly enjoyed my college years while an undergraduate at The Ohio State University, but life keeps getting better!
After graduating in 2007, I recognized some pretty significant things happening in my life that when it came time to believe God and move, it was pretty easy to let go and just go for it! So, I made the decision to participate in my ministry’s six month outreach program where I served with a great group of people who had the desire to give greater.
Regardless of my own person challenges, even now, I've realize the importance of setting [my] affections on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3 reveals the beauty of the renewed mind and its benefits to the individual and God's household! I encourage you to read or re-read it sometime soon.
So, with that, I look forward to sharing more with you in the upcoming days about the greatness of our God and how blessed I truly am.
Now onto those 15 interesting facts about me... *with a sigh*
1) It’s really tough talking about me, so I’ve tried perfecting the the art of conversation where I have to do little of the conversing...ha, ha
2) I learned recently, I'm not as different as an adult as when I was a child when showing my excitement. *cue scary cheesy smile*
3) I love the Anatomy of Film (book) and (concept). There's very few people I can hold hour long conversations with, but my friend Randy and his wife Kelly believe I maybe the only friend they have that can talk as in depth about film who wasn't an art major.
4) I'm the most unique White/Blue friend you'll ever have :) See: The Color Code (book)
5) In reference to The Color Code (book), I've learned how to better see the best in people
6) I have trouble telling jokes because I laugh before I actually get to the punch line
7) I'm pretty independent, but I enjoy being around people
8) I'll admit I'm a geek when it comes to social media and learning new ways of reaching people
9) I've learn to enjoy the competitive nature of being a 5K jogger. I even rose to the challenge of beating my own personal goal during a 10K race last month!
10) I'm a pretty big fan when it comes to The Office. I believe we all come in contact and/or exhibit our own personal "-isms" of each Office character from time to time :)
11) I own a few too many books that I haven't even begun to read.
12) I love the beach, but dislike the salt water
13) I've traveled more in the last three years of my life than ever before
14) Sadly, I got my first pedicure at the age of 28
15) I'm really struggling here...I guess the last semi-interesting thing about me is: I want to publish a fiction or non-fiction book one day.
